Full-width SteelPod (twin drawers & sliding bed)
- Fits all T5 T6 models EXCEPT Caravelle, Beach/California, and any model with a third row of seats.
This listing is for our new full-width VW Transporter SteelPod and fits most T5, T5.1, T6 and T6.1 models. This is for our most popular Black and "Black Grey" colour.
This is different to our original SteelPod in the following ways:
- The bed is now full-width and therefore compatible with most mattresses that are widely available (mattress not provided)
- The side shelves and cubby storage have obviously disappeared to make way for the full-width bed
- The frame and drawers are about 2cm narrower, but the bottom drawer retains its generous depth and is big enough for most toolboxes.
This SteelPod converts your VW Transporter into a useful work van, family bus and campervan.
For work, you will be impressed by the two lockable steel drawers that can carry over 400kg between them. Timbers and long items can be secured to the bed surface using the built-in lashing points on the SteelPods Frame.
For the family, the fullest of shopping trolleys will easily fit in the bottom drawer and still slide with ease. The family dog no longer needs a cage and will love traveling on the bed behind the rear seats. He can be secured to the drawer handles.
For Holidays, camping and BBQs, the timber inserts that rest on the top drawer provide a useful area, where you rest a stove or insert a fitted stove into the timber itself.
SteelPods are powder-coated and designed to last.

We offer options for DIY installation (delivered to you as a kit) or installed at our workshop in West Sussex.
We genuinely want your SteelPod to last for years and years. If you ever want a spare part or an extra piece, then please do get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
If something more serious has happened, then below is our small print for our warranty. However, if you think you are not covered, because say your warranty has expired, then please in touch anyway. It should always be repairable.
The sliders and structural integrity of the SteelPod is guaranteed for 12-months. In the case of DIY self installs, the warranty starts on the day of delivery, and in the case of SteelPods fitted by us then it's covered from the date of installation.
In the unlikely event that work needs to be carried out under warranty, then there are a few options:
- By default, we prefer to dispatch replacement parts to you.
- If we cannot provide you with parts, you may wish to get it repaired/welded near you. Please forward a quotation to us for approval.
Our warranty does not extend to damage caused by misuse or poor care, items that have been customised after they have left our workshop or cosmetic marks that have not impacted on the structural integrity.
It is not possible to powder-coat a second time and therefore any repairs undertaken may require spray painting.
In All Circumstances
All warranty claims must submitted by email to workshop@steelpods.co.uk. Please don't use facebook messenger, instagram, whatsapp, linkedin or similar channels.
All our warranties are subject to good and honest cooperation between both parties. Customers should be able to make small adjustments themselves with only basic tools and we are always on hand to give advice and guidance. We may request photographs or inspections and we hope this is acceptable.
Anything agreed between the parties verbally must always be followed up with written confirmation, otherwise it shall be treated as null and void.
Unless agreed otherwise, the purchaser is responsible for all transport.

We try keep Black/Grey SteelPods in stock and available for immediate fitting.
To order, you can either:
- Request an invoice or written quotation first, or;
- Order and pay in full now; via the website, or;
- Use the Partial Payment option on this website (the balance is payable 1 week before your fitting/ dispatch date)
Please expect a call from us shortly after your order. We will ask a few questions about your vehicle to check it's going to be compatible.
If your SteelPod and all components are in stock, then we generally arrange a dispatch or fitting date within a few days. On rare occasions we've installed the next day.
If the SteelPod is being delivered to you, it will arrive on a 1200x1200 pallet (pallets are non-returnable). We will assume that all deliveries are to a residential address and therefore the delivery van needs a taillift and pallet truck to deliver it to your door. Please therefore tell us if you have a forklift, or there are any issues with delivery.
Unfortunately, we cannot arrange for timed delivery slots.
